Bushnell Golf Launches NEO+ Golf GPS Rangefinder Watch

Bushnell Outdoor Products has just introduced the NEO+ Golf GPS Watch, an easy-to-use GPS rangefinder, with instant measurements for golfers in a simple, lightweight form-factor.

Simple & Comfortable:  According to the company, the lightweight watch is simple to operate and comfortable to wear, giving golfer’s accurate front/back/center and shot distance measurements on 25,000 preloaded courses with no membership fees, more than has have ever been made available via GPS.

Excellent Battery Life:  While other GPS watch devices run out of battery after just one round, the Bushnell NEO+ Golf GPS Watch allows golfers to play three rounds or over 14 hours without needing a recharge. Additionally, when the product is functioning solely in watch mode, the battery can last over 12 months.

The NEO+ Golf GPS Watch is capable of instantly recognizing courses and has an auto hole advance feature which automatically changes from one hole to the next. This great feature means that the golfer does not have to push another button for the rest of the round.

It will be available at Bushnell retailers nationwide beginning in May, with a retail price of $199.95.

>> We will see if we can get a hold of one of these to experience for ourselves how “lightweight” it truly is.<<

Nike Steps Up to Sponsor Tiger Woods’ Bag at The Masters

Tiger Woods Golf Bag
Tiger Woods Golf Bag

Move on over, Frank. Nike is Coming in.

We had a little fun a few days ago speculating what sponsor’s logo would appear on Tiger Woods’ bag when he returned at The Masters. My gut told me that Nike would probably be the brand of choice… and when you consider how Nike has stuck side-by-side with Woods through his recent trials and tribulations, it seemed to be the most reasonable choice.

Sure enough, late last week word came out that Tiger’s own ‘TW’ Nike brand will be emblazoned on the bag. The brand will be front and center, so expect to see the ‘TW’ logo along with a handful of Nike swooshes adorning the equipment of the world’s #1.

If you take a look back through the years, the change to Nike will make it 4 logos to adorn Tiger’s bag. Back in 1996, Tiger started out with Titleist. From there he moved on to Buick, in a deal that lasted quite a long time until 2008 when GM filed for bankruptcy. Over the past year or so the AT&T logo had been found on-the-bag, until Tiger’s recent ‘indiscretions’.

Should be cool to see what the new Nike bag looks like. Any ideas?

GolfLogix Expands GPS App line to Include Support for the Motorola DROID

Got a Motorola DROID smartphone? There’s a new app in town. GolfLogix of Scottsdale, Arizona has just unveiled a version of its popular GPS distance and stat-tracking app that works on Motorola DROID.   GolfLogix claims to have the #1 Golf GPS app worldwide.  It provides golfers with useful information like distances to the front, center and back of the green, as well as points out major hazards.

The DROID version joins the ones running on other popular smartphone platforms:  iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Bold and Bold2, BlackBerry Tour and BlackBerry Storm, Storm 2,  HTC Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2.

DROID’s large screen and high-resolution makes it an ideal host for the GolfLogix app.  In a prepared statement, Pete Charleston, president of GolfLogix said,  “Our development team is keeping pace with the cell phone industry. We are the only golf app provider who is focused on making our application available on as many phones as possible and allowing golfers to transfer their membership and keep all of their statistics when they change to a new phone.”

GolfLogix uses a subscription model that runs $39.95 a year.  If you want to try it out before committing, the company provides a non-industry standard 24-hour free trial period to accommodate one round.

Payment of the yearly fee makes you a member of the GolfLogix community where you’ll have access to  more than 25,000+ professionally mapped golf courses worldwide, a personalized statistic tracking website, distance information on every round, score tracking, club data, accessory discounts, free data upgrades and more. Plus, members receive all application upgrades and can transfer memberships to new compatible phones at no extra charge. GolfLogix’ golf application can be downloaded directly from the Company’s website (www.golflogix.com).

If you have tried it out on your DROID or other smartphone, please let us know how you like it.  Specifically, how well it worked under the various lighting conditions.

Davis Love III Shows Off His Custom Scotty Cameron ‘Stealth’ Carry Bag

Oh it’s just so not fair. Why do all of the major-winning, straight-hitting, putt-sinking professionals get all the good schwag? 🙂 The other day I happened to notice the bag you see above in Davis Love III’s twitter feed. A custom Scotty Cameron ‘Stealth’ bag. Fantastic. I’ll take two!

Big tip of the cap to the folks at Scotty Cameron for putting together the bag, and another tip of the cap to Davis for sharing it with his followers. I know almost EVERYONE out there would want this bag over their shoulder… or better yet, their caddy’s shoulder 🙂
